This is what the model thinks the plume may look like. It uses the current rainfall snapshot plus the river, current speed, and bearing shown above. It is not a satellite observation, measured current, measured turbidity, visibility forecast, or safety determination.
How it works
Established screening methods, joined transparently
- Three weather-grid points sample each upstream watershed; their hourly precipitation is averaged.
- SCS Curve Number converts cumulative rainfall into excess rainfall.
- A triangular unit hydrograph routes that volume into discharge.
- A sensitivity rating curve estimates suspended-sediment flux.
- Hourly midpoint releases move through a constant-current Gaussian plume.
- Reef values report modeled TSS. The optical proxy is not presented as diver visibility.
Rainfall and weather update automatically from Open-Meteo's continuously refreshed blend of national weather models. Past hours are archived forecast-model output, not observations, analysis, reanalysis, radar QPE, or local rain-gauge measurements. The ocean-current controls remain a separate scenario until a reliable live CARICOOS current feed is integrated.
